So after a bit of trouble with the tile installation, I've now got new flooring in about 85% of the house. The only original flooring still in the place is the tile in the entry, and the wood laminate in the family room. All of the old carpet has been replaced, as well as all of the old vinyl and the tile upstairs.
First, for comparison, here's what the old carpet looked like:

This was the transition from dining room carpet to vinyl in the kitchen:

Here was the kitchen/nook vinyl:

And a reverse of the kitchen/nook:

Here was the vinyl in the laundry room:

Here you can see the original carpet extending into the master bathroom:

Which transitioned to small tile in the "wet areas" of the master bath:

So, with that as a baseline, here's the new look of the house.
The carpet is a similar tone to what I had before, but it's a multi-colored semi-shag that goes pretty well with the new paint (this is a corner of the dining room):

It also goes pretty nicely with the original tile in the entry:

Here's the new transition into the kitchen/nook, where I used 20" tiles:

And another shot of the kitchen, from the family room:

I used 13" tiles everywhere else in the house, such as in the laundry room:

The office has a different type of carpet, because I wanted a lower pile for office furniture and rolling chairs. So, here you can kind of see the patterned loop carpet I used in this room:

The upstairs bathroom is no longer the old 8" tiles:

And of course the master bath is now tiled instead of carpeted:

The bigger (and much nicer) 13" tiles are a major improvement over the original little tiles in the wet areas of the master bath:

And here's an extreme closeup of the tile/carpet transition, which gives you a better look at the patterns in both:
