Now the big question -- will a Democratic House spend more time on investigations into the Bush Administration, looking into the past -- or on new legislation, looking to the future?

Gotta investigate the holy heck out of these guys and wait for one of the hearings to metastasize (and it will). The public has grown tired of their antics, particularly of the sycophantic right (Hannity, Limbaugh, O'Reilly) and want an end to it. They're not gonna put up with a lot of blustering about Democratic obstructionists.

I haven't looked at ballot measures nationally yet, but the defeat of TABOR in Oregon, the Kelo remedy in Washington, and the anti-gay marriage thing in Arizona, as well as passage of minimum wage bills in a couple of states, should say a lot about the mood of the country. They're tired (physically tired) of being dictated to by Santorum / Dobson / Norquist / Hannity.

It's a new day.

Well it is going to be a while before the recounts are done, but today it looks like the Dems win Senate seats in Montana and Virginia and take a majority in both houses.

Rumsfeld has pre-emptively quit. I think he is going to be the scapegoat.

I've heard Rep. Blumenaur (D-OR) and Speaker-to-be Pelosi speak and they both talked about working with the Republians. Pelosi said that while some people say it is time for Democrats to get their revenge, she doesn't believe that would help us.

My interpretation is that while the Dems want to talk about their issues, they know that they didn't really win congress as much as the Republicans lost it. Dems know they need to seize this opportunity to make a good impression on people that really are just sick of losing in Iraq and blame the people who were running the show.

As happy as I am about the change of power, I can't help but wish the the voters would have realized how bad Iraq is 2 years ago.
