So, living in Vegas I really don't have any "home town" sports teams to root for. And as for my once-beloved, now-despised Jailblazers, don't get me started.
I'm partial to Phoenix (Shawn Marion has been my fantasy hoops savior the past couple of seasons) but I do like Dallas as well, so the conference finals were pretty much a win-win for me. And I really like Mark Cuban (check out his blog, linked on the right). It's nice to have an owner who is a genuine fan, with genuine deep pockets, who understands why they're playing the game in the first place...
Not to knock Miami at all, they're a good team with a rising fantasy stud and an aging center (dude's almost MY age, for crying out loud...) But hey, I'm gonna root for the Western Conference in the finals.
Unless the Lakers are in it, of course. Being from Portland, I'm genetically predisposed to root AGAINST the Lakers. But it looks like it may be a long, long time before that'll be an issue in this league again.
